Diran Bastiaan is a former assassin turned adventurer-priest of the Silver Flame.[1][2][3]
Description[]
Diran has a striking appearance: tall, thin and garbed entirely in black, with black shirt, pants, belt, and boots, together with a black leather vest for armor. His daggers have black hilts, and he keeps them sheathed in his belt. Over all this he wears a black traveler's cloak—hidden pockets sewn into the inner lining hold more daggers and weigh it down. His hair is black and grows it long and leaves it loose while his eyes are, not black, but ice blue and piercing. His face is lean to the point of being gaunt, and is described as wolfish. He is quite intimidating.[4]
While he can speak amiably, he can appear emotionless.[4]
He uses daggers as his preferred weapon, though he is attempting to learn the bow as that is the preferred weapon of the Silver Flame.[5] He is a master of the throwing dagger, and carries many of them on his person at all times.[4]
History[]
He was taken as a child and raised to be an assassin by Emon Gorsedd and his Brotherhood of the Blade. During that time, he was forcibly possessed by an evil spirit summoned by Quellin, a priest of the Dark Six. This was common practice in the organization in order to make the assassins more controllable and less likely to suffer attacks of conscience during a job.[1]
Diran has since freed himself of the possession.[1]
Now, Diran walks as an adventurer-priest of the Silver Flame, relentless in the pursuit of unnatural threats.[1]
