Outsiders are creatures not native to the material plane of Eberron. Outsiders can come from any of the other planes of Eberron, and include creatures and races such as archons, demons, devils, mephits, and quori. Other creatures, such as daelkyr and elementals can be considered outsiders, but usually fall under another category, such as Aberrations or Elementals, respectively.

In the 3rd edition game mechanics, Outsiders are considered one of the major creature types, which are Aberrations, Animals, Constructs, Dragons, Deathless, Elementals, Fey, Giants, Humanoids, Magical Beasts, Monstrous Humanoids, Oozes, Outsiders, Plants, Undead, and Vermin. Within the 3rd edition mechanics, all outsiders have 8-sided hit dice, darkvision, do not need to eat or sleep, and no souls and thus cannot be resurrected, amongst other characteristics.
